Ladies' Guild
The Ladies' Guild committee is made up of a small nucleus of ladies interested in the welfare of Bushey Synagogue and the running of its kitchen and catering needs. Apart from the main committee, we have a very successful Kiddush Rota with approximately 60 ladies who volunteer to help maybe 3 or 4 times per year with setting out the weekly kiddushim. This is a highly popular rota and a good way to meet new members of the Shul. If you wish to be added to the rota list, please phone Judy Salasnik (8950 6453) who ably organises the dates. We are always pleased to see new faces helping us with the preparations.
During the year, we participate in the Annual Ladies' Guild Quiz and always take a table at the Annual Dinner, both of which are highly popular events. From time to time, we arrange evenings out in local kosher restaurants, or meet up in members’ houses if we need to discuss any future events or Yom Tovim arrangements.
We have recently teamed up with other Hertfordshire Ladies' Guilds for the purposes of planning future ventures and our first joint event was an “Evening with June Kenton”from Rigby and Peller, which we held in our Shul. An entertaining time was had by the many ladies who attended and we hope to plan similar evenings in the future.
Every year, we donate a gift to the Shul on Ladies' Guild Shabbat and this year, we are giving a new Chuppah which can be hired for functions outside of Bushey Shul, and we hope to have this on display in the near future for the congregation to see. This will be in addition to the Chuppah we donated a few years ago and which was made specifically for use only in the Shul.
