Klezmer Concert – traditional wedding and dance music from 'Shir'
As part of the Bushey Festival, Bushey United Synagogue opened its doors to the wider Bushey Community and hosted a Klezmer Concert.
After an introduction by Rabbi Feldman, who explained the meaning of the word Klezmer ( a derivation of the Hebrew words for musical instrument), the sell-out 200 strong audience were entertained by SHIR who played a hand clapping, foot stomping, selection of Klezmer music from Eastern Europe, haunting rhythms from Ladino Spain and Turkey, ancient songs from Yemen and the Middle East as well as some modern Israeli music.
